Dear International Communist League,

Greetings! While it is true that bourgeois liberalism is, yet again, in crisis, the content of that crisis is not merely negative, coming out of it’s own routine failings. Latent in that content, is the increasing consciousness of an old, unfulfilled task for politically underdeveloped American society, which can no longer be suppressed; the establishment of a Party of Labor. What we see that is ‘new,’ rather than crisis, is the increasing need for American politics to gesture at this historic task, by pseudo-politics, pretending to represent the organized class; by mobilizing the institution of bourgeois radical communities; affinity memberships of all types, in effort to trap the class not only in pseudo-thought, but also pseudo-activity. This type of misleadership has effectively imprisoned and crippled the class, for many years now, as you may very well know.

What is requisite, is to break politically with radical pseudo-activity, in order to establish an organization of a new type; purposed and instituted for the democratic representation of the organized working class. Bolshevik-Leninists approached this task, in socially underdeveloped Russian conditions, by creating the membership-party which, simultaneously, organized the class, in-itself, into industrial unions, which it then hoped to lead, permanently, according to it’s revolutionary program (the German worker’s movement developed the same way). Bureaucratic, and eventually social, counterrevolution compromised and overturned the social leadership of Russian unions and society that the Bolshevik party had established.

In American society, the organized class exists already, in-itself, constituted in its trade unions and worker’s societies. The economic task has already developed, now to it’s height, in decaying imperialist society. The political task remains; that that class which already exists, organized in-itself, have instituted the permanent right to election and recall of it’s own, independent representatives, through the establishment of a Party of Labor. For this, a united front is required, of independent clubs and caucuses, for said Parties foundation. The only method to, in fact, break from being an auxiliary force to the Democrats and Republicans, is to institute a Party which represents a decisive break with their speculative, demagogic social practice, into the concrete actions and practices requisite for representation of the organized working class, as it exists, today. For class struggle to further develop from its current stagnation; for our situation to have any hope of becoming revolutionary, our class must proceed now down the road of politics. As Bolsheviks, we must proceed with full confidence in the capacity of our class to be a decisive force in these democratic tasks. As Communists, we should well know that adequate political consciousness is never an organic development out of the class, in-itself, as economically constituted by bourgeois society, it must be brought externally, by intervention of leadership.

After it’s foundation, our Party will be tasked, almost immediately, with opposition to those self-same organized ‘coalition radicals’ of the Peace and Freedom Party, Democratic Socialists, etc. whom put forward electoral candidates in the name of the working class, to mislead them! They must be opposed in as many elections as possible, with candidates of our own; genuine worker’s candidates. We must become an independent political force, worthy of the Class we are delegated by!

We therefore invite you, now, to join in a united front effort to build a Party of Labor in the United States, which can only culminate in the conquest of power by the organized working class! Stand with us, in an alliance of cadre, guided by a transitional program with all others who will stand, under the world-historic banner of the Fourth International!
